2025 Workshop Schedule

All writing workshops are online conducted live via Zoom and are not recorded. They are generative and interactive, with timed writing portions along with the opportunity for sharing work, offering feedback and discussion. The main goal for every writing workshop is for writing to happen. I try to provide tools, resources and support for that to happen. All listed times reflect Eastern Time Zone, be sure to check differences and plan accordingly.

“Through poetry, we gain greater self-understanding as well as insight into others in our world and into our world itself. ”

–Robert McDowell, Poetry As Spiritual Practice

Poetry As Spiritual Practice Creative Writing Workshop

Thursday April 10th 9:00am-10:00am & Thursday April 24th 12:00pm-1:00pm

Inspired by the quoted text, this workshop will combine poetry and spirituality as inspiration for our writing practice. We will utilize a variety of readings, exercises and concepts from the book as a way into our own writing practice, in addition to using specific poems as prompts. While our focus will be on poetry, participants are encouraged to write in any form, style or genre they prefer. This is a live interactive online workshop. Please be prepared to actively participate; being on camera is not required but it is preferred. Reading your writing is always voluntary.

This is a creative writing workshop, and the focus will always be on the writing. For the purposes of this workshop spirituality is defined as seeking a connection with something larger than our selves. Everybody is welcome regardless of religious affiliation, beliefs, etc. The goal is about intentionally connecting with poetry as a life enriching practice. Workshops may be subject to cancellation or rescheduling due to low registrations.

Journaling Jumpstart 5-Day Writing Workshop

Jumpstart your journaling practice with a week of prompts, dedicated journaling time and community support.

We’ve all heard about the positive effects of journaling and have every intention to do it. But for many it just keeps getting put off. The most obvious reasons are the struggle to carve out the time for a regular practice and not knowing where or how to start. The goal of this journal writing workshop is to help with both. I recommend showing up all week to start building it as a consistent habit, however you can join as many days as you like.

Workshop meets daily for 5 days, Mon-Fri, at 7:30am for about 30 minutes, starting July 14th. We start with a short check in and warmup, followed by 10-15 minutes of dedicated writing time. A variety of prompts will be offered, but you’re free to write anything you like. We’ll end the workshop with a few minutes of reflecting on the journaling process and sharing. Participants are welcome to share thoughts about the prompt, the writing process, how it made them feel, etc. Participants are free to share as much or as little as they like.

Workshops are a confidential space; participants agree not to discuss others’ writing or conversations outside of the workshop time and space. All participants will be treated with equal respect; we will listen to each other without judgement or prejudice. The suggested prompts are just that, you can modify them any way that works for you or ignore them completely. All participation is voluntary, you are never obligated to share anything unless you want to. Small groups between 5-8 participants.

Monday July 14th – Friday July 18th @ 7:30-8:00am
